A Case for Brown

About 5 years ago, I was introduced to the color brown.  Oh sure I knew there was a color brown and I wore it sometimes.  However, whenever I wore anything with color I usually paired it with black.  Until one day I bought a brown sweater and started wearing it with blues and greens, etc.  Now brown is a wardrobe staple for me.  Do you wear brown?

An advocate for scarves

I am a huge advocate for scarves.  I have been wearing scarves for over 10 years.  Not only to stay warm but to add interest to an outfit.  Look at how boring my outfit looks without a scarf and when I add a complimentary scarf to it, it's much more interesting.  Very subtle but more interesting.  Do you wear scarves?

Stripes

Stripes are a complicated pattern.  Especially for someone who has a larger chest.  I have found some stripes work and some don't.  But it all depends on the size of the stripes, the cut and color and the fabric.  I recently purchased a Gap gray and white striped blazer.  I really stepped out of my box here because normally I don't wear such light colors (I love me my jewel tones) and I am still a little new to the stripes world.  I really like it, the blazer fits perfectly and I think the navy colored t-shirt I have on makes me feel more comfortable wearing something so light.  What do you think of stripes?  How do you wear your stripes?

My Leopard Wedge Shoe Indulgence

Yesterday (with a little push from my sister), I bought a pair of shoes I have been drooling over.  I tried on these shoes a couple of weekends ago and fell in love with them.  They were too expensive for me but I decided to keep an eye out for them online to see when they went on sale.  Well they did start to go on sale and starting disappearing as well!  So I finally went to Macy's yesterday and ordered them.  Although they were full price ($99), I had two gift cards to use and ended up spending only $17 on these fabulous shoes.  I felt very indulgent and a bit annoyed because I never buy things that expensive (even though I barely spent any of my own money, it still felt very indulgent).  But after that feeling wore off, I just started getting excited.  I can't wait to get them, I will put an outfit together specifically to showcase these shoes when I get them! What do you think? (thanks for talking me into them sis!)

Scarf Belt

Today I tried an idea that I picked up from Kenzie on kenziefaith.blogspot.com.  In her post she wore her scarf as a belt a scarf-belt!  I wanted to use this idea because that gives you so many more options for belts.  Not to mention with scarfs you can make them as loose or as tight as you need to!  I did take the easy way out and I wore a scarf-belt that was very incognito underneath my blazer/jacket that I am wearing.  I figured I'd start small and then work my way up to how Kenzie is sporting hers!

To Match or To Go that is the question

Today I tried to copy an outfit from one of the blogs I follow.  It's called Elephants & Owls. It's a blog by two stylish ladies; Jessica and Kellie.  I used one of Kellie's outfits to copy as my outfit today.  I probably wouldn't have paired this blazer and shirt together, because it doesn't match exactly.  It's hard to see in the picture but the shirt has little flowers on it that are teal, pink and lime colored and my blazer is a rose color.

This is something I tend to do, I have to match colors.  When I really should remember what Stacy and Clinton always say on What Not To Wear (on TLC), things don't have to match they just have to go.  So that is what I tried to do today, this is something I will continue to have to work on.

Do you wear matching colors or are you able to wear things that don't match but still go together?
