Repeat Offender

I am a repeat offender! I guess with shoes this isn't such a big deal, but I couldn't wait to wear the same shoes as I did yesterday and since it is unusually warm here in the Midwest I figured I'd go for it, with no socks (in JANUARY!) I also usually wear this blazer only with a dress, but I pared it with jeans today and a skinny belt.  I used to think I couldn't wear a skinny belt, but I have been doing it more and more, just to really define my waist in a more subtle way.  If I want my belt to have more of an impact on my outfit I wear a wide belt.  I find even though I have a full chest it helps to show I have waist.  How do you wear your belts?  Do you have an item of clothing that is a repeat offender?

Contrasting Colors

Boring Mondays.  Today was a lazy day, so my outfit lacks a bit of imagination.  I did wear a contrasting color skinny belt which is something I don't usually do.  And it did take the outfit up a notch.  I also decided I love these shoes, they are from a friend of mine who decided they were two small for her.  Maybe I'll let her pick out some of my clothes for me in the future, just to step even further out of my box.

Color Combo

Happy Friday!  Today I decided to not wear black or gray (well except for my shoes).  This proved to be easier than I expected because I could wear jeans.  But I never put this shirt and blazer together, I was really happy with the color combination this turned out to be!

Size is just a number...

While reading many other blogs today, I came across a few blogs that spoke about the ridiculous images in the media that are supposed to portray "real" beauty and saying that a size 6 is plus size.  It seems as if this is a topic that keeps coming up.  While looking at other people's blogs daily, I also notice that there a lot of blogs for ladies that are average sizes or plus size ladies.  A lot of the average gals have great ways to save money on outfits shopping at places like Charlotte Russe, Forever 21, etc.

This is great, but what about the ladies who are in between?  What do they wear? Truthfully, I haven't found any bottoms at Forever 21 I can fit into.  So where do we shop? How do we look appropriate for work without spending a bundle?  These are things I'd love to share with my readers.

I figure I'd start by telling everyone a little bit more about me and my size.  I am neither average nor plus size.  I am just about 5'9" and wear a size 12.  I also have substantial sized "girls" (34G), which seems to be the hardest thing to dress on my body.

My point is when you are reading my blog or looking for a blog of someone who is not an average size nor plus size and need some inspiration on how to dress their body, I hope I can be of help.  Plus I am a BARGAIN shopper.  I have spent a lot of time reading and watching shows such as "What Not to Wear", "How Do I Look?", etc.  And while I am still learning how to dress my body to accentuate all of the right areas, I think I have a pretty good understanding of what looks good on my body.  So please stay tuned, I will be starting to post pictures of myself wearing these outfits so you can see just how they look on me (love handles and all).  I'd love to get your comments and advice on the outfits I wear!

Today's outfit was inspired about the fact that I wanted to be comfortable and work appropriate today!

25 January 2012

Today's look was inspired by wanting to wear another new skirt I bought from this great site called Shadeclothing.com.  I think I found the website from perusing through Pinterest.  I just LOVED the color of this skirt.  This is not a color I would normally wear, but I really like the idea of wearing bright colors, especially on a dreary winter day!

I finally found and wore a khaki corduroy skirt that I have been wanting.  I usually don't wear lighter colors on my bottom half, but I really liked wearing this skirt.  It was nice to veer away from the usual black and gray!

My outfit today lacks a bit of imagination.  I knew I wanted to wear this black corduroy skirt I thrifted, however I had to get ready in a hurry, so this is what I ended up wearing.  Not terrible but I would definitely add some more pizazz next time!

Dinner with the girls.  I wanted to wear one of the new skirts I purchased, but it ended up snowing way too much and I needed to wear my winter boots (not pictured here).  So I ended up going with jeans.  I also tried something new for me, which was add something rather "girly" to my outfit.  I added the red flower (hair clip) onto my belt.  My husband assured me it wasn't too "cheesy".  I ended up loving it!

Today, because the weather was so bad, I didn’t really try anything new.  I just simply dressed for warmth and comfort.  I guess maybe if you count the fact that I have a new haircut, then I did do something new.  I was wearing my snow boots all day so that’s why you don’t see them in the picture.  However, I do want to give you a product review on my snow boots.  This year I finally decided to cave in and buy some more expensive (but still reasonable) priced snow boots.  Let me tell you living in the Midwest I have no idea why I didn’t do this sooner.  It’s been unseasonably warm so far this summer, but winter has finally hit and I am so glad I asked for these boots for Christmas.  My husband splurged and bought me Sorel’s.  They are warm, REALLY comfy and just an overall great purchase.  They are durable and will last me for years to come!

19 January 2012

I'll admit my post today was supposed to be something else but when I woke up and saw how really really cold it was outside there was no way I could go with my intended outfit.  So I decided to put together an outfit that did not include any brown or black or gray, which I knows sounds easy for most people but not me!  So I stepped outside my box and put an outfit together with Navy and purple (I do admit though I have a wooden necklace on that I made).  The outfit below just demonstrates the blue pants, purple top and jean jacket, which I have on.  The necklace is something similar of something I made from an old bracelet that was all stretched out.  This outfit is nothing to jump for joy for, but I think I will be taking on this challenge again very soon!

17 January 2012

Today I decided to try wearing a scarf in a color I wouldn't normally wear and to wear the scarf differently than I usually do.  I love scarves and am no stranger to wearing scarves
(I was wearing winter scarves to keep warm before it became an essential item in every woman's closet).  But I always wear them the same way.  I have been watching videos on how to tie different types of scarves, I decided to try one of the square scarf ties today.  Below is a picture of one of my favorite bloggers.  I took my outfit inspiration from  her today with the wide leg jeans, blazer and scarf but I decided to tie my scarf a bit differently.  What do you think?

My favorite style blog! What I Wore- Jessica Quirk

Today I tried the boots over skinny pants look.  I realize this is not new for most (read 99%) of people but for me it is.  I have been really reluctant in trying this trend. Which seems to be moving towards more norm than a trend.  So this is my interpretation of this outfit,  I don't have jeggings yet, that's a scary thing for me to try.  And I don't have a sweater like this or jacket.  So I just paired my skinny black pants with a fly away striped cardigan.
